How I Got Started
Like so many others, I rediscovered an old hobby during COVID. I started making face masks when they were scarce. For a while, I made them from the time I got up until the time I went to bed. When my sewing machine broke, and I felt it was time to return the one I borrowed from a very generous neighbor (thank you, Sue!), I fulfilled a longtime dream and bought myself a very fancy machine. That turned my hobby into a passion and I am still often sewing from the time I get up until the time I go to bed.
With an awful lot of encouragement and help from my family, my business – Waye to Cover Up – became official in June. And although I continue to make face masks, I am thrilled to have moved on to some new projects. Besides making T-shirt quilts, I also make decorative pillows. Although I do not advertise the pillows, I have included a few pictures on this website.
I plan to keep this business local, working with folks in the Bethesda area. If you are interested in these items or have another sewing project you think I may be able to help with, please give me a call.
