Testimonials

Jean made an amazing quilt for my son‘s graduation. It was actually his favorite gift! She was able to use multiple pieces of shirts and sweatshirts and had great suggestions. She sent me two potential draft options within two days and finished the project lightening fast. It was beautifully folded and tied with a ribbon ready for gift giving. Jean’s professionalism and skill are top-notch. I can’t recommend her highly enough. If you are looking for the perfect gift for yourself or someone else,  this is it. Plus it is always great to support a local, woman-owned business. Thanks Jean for the amazing quilt.

I couldn’t recommend Waye to Cover Up Quilts enough! Jean was an absolute delight to work with and the quality of the quilt is outstanding. Jean was able to incorporate my daughter’s Girl Scout sash as one of the panels – as well as stitch together pieces of 4 different shirts from the same camp for another panel with the colors of the Maryland flag. My daughter loves her quilt and it has held up beautifully through college dorm room use and dorm washing machines!

My son left his concert T-shirts behind when he moved out. My sister-in-law told me about Jean‘s T-shirt quilts. With my first conversation with Jean,  I knew she cared about making her customers happy. As she was making the quilt, she communicated with me, sent pictures, gave me choices, and welcome my input. Jean’s enthusiasm to make the quilt was awesome. I was on a tight time line, (last minute Christmas gift idea), and Jean graciously had the quilt done quickly.   The quality and craftsmanship was above and beyond! It arrived nicely folded and tied with the ribbon. My son was in awe when he opened it. He looked over every square and I could tell that his memories of each concert  were vivid to him.  His quilt is “The Rockstar” in the photo section of this website. I highly recommend Waye to Cover Up.  Jean is delightful and the product is stellar!

Kathy Hadden, a pleasure to work with from afar!

Full disclosure:  my family and the Wayes have been close friends for 25 years.  Our daughters bonded at pre-school and at the community swimming pool — and, thus, so did we.  However, nothing about our friendship and our general instincts to be supportive of each other influences this unconditional and supportive testimonial:  Jean’s T-shirt quilts are unparalleled both in quality and design, and her own creativity, patience (!), and skill make the entire experience fun!

My husband and I adore our queen size quilt, to the point where we have substituted it for any prior bedspread, comforter, etc.  Each panel (30 large squares) is significant to some part of our lives, individual and/or familial, so the result is uniquely personal.  And GORGEOUS!  Jean kindly did several “drafts” (for my in-person review) to ensure thematic wholeness; color balance; text versus graphic symmetry; and my overall happiness — always with a smile, good suggestions, and commitment to quality integrity and customer satisfaction.  Highly unusual these days, both the experience and the result were/are…perfect!  Waye to Cover Up is the only way to go!

After graduating high school, I wanted a heartfelt memento that would remind me of home. Not just my hometown, but my family, friends, and childhood memories I made along the way. I also wanted something warm since I’m studying in New England and the winters can be brutal. When I heard about what Jean does, I thought it’d be a perfect fit. My parents loved the finished product so much they commissioned a quilt of their own! Couldn’t recommend it enough. –Julia Federing, Whitman High school alum.

Looking for a good time? Call Jean!  Not only does she make the highest quality T-shirt quilts on the market, you will enjoy the experience!  She will pour all her love and attention into your quilt, making sure no detail is overlooked.  I have purchased three quilts from her over the past 2 years, all with various types of materials from pinnies to baseball jerseys.  They have all held up to multiple washings, college life and family pets without shifting or pilling.  Waye to Cover-Up IS the he way to cover up!!

Gina Trant, former Whitman parent (and a good time!)

After graduating from high school, I wanted a creative way to save the T-shirts I accumulated over the years. I heard about an online T-shirt quilt manufacturer and asked my parents to order one for me. I sent my shirts away and received a nice quilt a few weeks later.

Recently, my mom realized she could have made my quilt on her own, and she used my extra shirts to make a second quit (SQUARE 44 X 44 in.). My new quilt is a lot nicer than the first one. The backing doesn’t stretch out the shirts, and the interfacing keeps the quilt fully intact in the wash.

Once I graduate from college, I’ll definitely send my college shirts to my Mom to make another beautiful quilt of memories.

My experience working with Jean was nothing short of wonderful. She’s creative, accommodating, talented and possesses an excellent eye for design. I was so happy with the finished product. My husband knew I was having a blanket made for him (I needed his prized t-shirts, after all) but I told him that since it was for his birthday, the surprise was that he couldn’t see it until he opened his gift. He was so happy. It’s so beautifully made, I envision this being in our family for generations. I highly recommend Jean and her gorgeous products.

My Waye to Cover Up quilt feels like a warm hug from and old friend. Thank you Jean for making it with love. I’m obsessed!

Catherine Trant, former (very huggable) Whitman student

I am SO happy with my t-shirt quilt! Not only is it designed well, but it is incredibly soft and well made. It is clear that she took time to plan a personalized blanket and even more time to meticulously create it. I will absolutely recommend this to all of my friends, family, and community!

Sophia Tomkins, an old friend from the neighborhood who we miss very much

This is a beautiful t-shirt quilt made with attention to detail. The backing on each square gives it just the right amount of heft so it holds its shape, folds neatly, and looks freshly pressed even though I’ve used it every day for more than a month. I love how soft it is and how I feel snuggled underneath it while reading or watching TV.  Jean is a skilled seamstress to take these precious memories and stitch them into something so comforting and lovely.

This blanket is an organizer’s dream. Keepsake T-shirts transform into a soft usable work of art instead of taking up space in the attic!

Even if I weren’t Jean’s husband, I would tell anyone how much I enjoy the T-shirt quilt that she made me. When I return from a long day, I get to smile for a second at all the wonderful and meaningful memories represented on the shirts. And beyond evoking some fond memories, the quilt also has other not-to-be underestimated benefits – I don’t feel bad about tossing out old T-shirts and I can actually open my T-shirt drawer again! The quilt is the perfect weight for comfortable snoozing. So, even though I am biased, I sincerely prize my quilt, and I’d be happy to show it off to anyone who would like to see it!

Vic Waye, Jean’s husband

I ordered a king size quilt from Jean as a surprise for my son graduating from high school. Jean was super easy to work with and had very thoughtful suggestions. The quilt is like a big soft warm hug of favorite t-shirts and memories. I love it.
